About Turkey Handicapped Sports, Education  and  Asisstance Foundation

Turkey Handicapped Sports, Education and Assistance Foundation is a NGO established in 1999 by 41founder members in order to provide to the handicapped a habitable environment and to increase their life comfort.

The aim of TESYEV is to assist the 8 million handicapped  in Turkey to became part in the social life as happy and self-reliant individuals by creating access to education sources like the unhandicapped and joining sportive events.  TESYEV performed several activities in order to reach it’s goals. The basic need in the handicapped sports is the equipment. In order to overcome these difficulties TESVEY imported necessary equipment and distributed it to the clubs. Several courses, like computer programming and sportive events like national and international tournaments have been arranged by TESYEV.

The nunber of administrative members is increased from 41 to 118 and with about 300 volunteer members we have extended our activities nationwide. Our foundation  assisted the rehabilitation of several handicapped through sports, granted to many handicapped students from primary school level upto unversities bourses, and lending a hand to all handicapped in need.

Important activities organized for the handicapped with personal efforts of Mr. A. Yavuz Kocaömer for the first time in Turkiye

Turkiye Handicapped Sports Federation which was avtive untill the year  2000 was divided in to four different federations as a result of the  intervention of Mr. Yavuz Kocaömer  with the authirities. The Fereations formed are: Physical,  Optical, Aural and Mental Handicapped Federations.

According to the prize regulatin in force untill the year 2000 handicapped athlets  who have been successful  in European and world championships, were given only 25% of the prize o0f the unhandicapped athlets with the same level of success. As a result of Mr. A. Yavuz Kocaömer’s  articles and struggles with the authorities the regulation was changed, and handicapped athlets gained the rights as the unhandicapped.

Foundation of  the Turkish Palimpik Comitee preparation of the regulations in 2002.

Organizing “Sport training Seminars”  for  the  handicapped sports for the first time in Turkiye.

Foundation of Physical Handicapped Sports clubs and organizing the the aid of sportive equipments. (Today 18 Optical Handicapped Sports clubs are active in Turkiye, but in 1998 there was none)
